Disease can be present in your body for months, even years, before symptoms appear. Fortunately, at our Summerville chiropractic wellness center, many health problems can be detected and prevented through a wellness test.
We offer a comprehensive, 6-step wellness test that assesses your body for hidden problems that could negatively affect your health and quality of life. The chiropractic wellness exam focuses on several key areas.
STEP 1 – SPINE: The first step in the wellness test is advanced X-ray imaging, which allows us to evaluate the condition of your spine with enhanced, detailed images. In addition, we keep your exposure to a minimum while also minimizing the impact to the environment.
STEP 2 – MUSCLES: Both large and small spinal injuries can disturb the function of the nerves that feed your muscles. This portion of the chiropractic wellness exam measures how well your motor nerves are working by reading the amount of electrical current found in the muscles.
STEP 3 – TEMPERATURE: When the communication between the nervous system and the blood vessels is disturbed, it causes the body's thermostat to malfunction, producing an imbalanced temperature reading along the spine. As part of the wellness test, a thermal scan provides us with information to monitor your nervous system for proper function.
STEP 4 – RANGE OF MOTION: Stress on the spine and associated nerves can lead to a reduced range of motion. Our range of motion evaluation is an essential part of the wellness exam as well as an objective way to evaluate your progress during chiropractic care.
STEP 5 – PULSE: Stress can have a negative effect on your spine as well as your overall health and wellness. During your chiropractic wellness test, we'll also monitor your heart rate over time. By observing how the nervous system functions at rest, we can assess how well you adapt to stress.
STEP 6 – BALANCE: When your body is injured or out of alignment, it can respond by shifting your center of balance. In this part of the wellness exam, our specialized weight scales measure the distribution of your weight on both sides of your body, helping us visualize how the spine has accommodated or reacted to a spinal injury.
Following your chiropractic wellness exam, we collect all of the data into a customized report and go over your results with you, explaining your overall state of wellness as well as areas for improvement. Throughout chiropractic care at our wellness center, we use these initial results to compare to your overall progress.
